Plantar warts (foot warts)
Plantar warts are dense skin growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They most often appear on areas of high pressure such as the heel, ball of the foot, or under the toes. At first, a wart may resemble a callus, but unlike a callus, it can cause sharp pain when pressed, especially while walking. Sometimes, warts grow larger or merge into “mosaic” clusters. They are contagious and can spread through public showers, swimming pools, or shared footwear.
How the procedure is performed:
The specialist begins with an examination and, if necessary, performs a differential diagnosis to distinguish the wart from a callus. Then:
- The hardened skin over the wart is carefully removed;
- A special antiviral agent is applied directly to the wart, or a device-assisted treatment is performed (such as acid application, cryotherapy, or electrotherapy — depending on the equipment and skin condition);
- If needed, the area is covered (with a plaster or bandage) to prevent spreading and protect it from pressure;
- The specialist provides recommendations for home care, skin protection, and boosting the immune system.
Benefits of the procedure:
For many people, it’s important to know how comfortable the procedure will be and how quickly they can return to their daily routine.
- Painless, gentle, and safe
- Careful and non-invasive removal
- Individual approach (based on the size, depth, and number of warts)
- Reduced pain while walking
- Prevention of spreading to other areas of the skin
- Suitable even for sensitive skin and children (with prior consultation)

How the problem is solved:
The goal of the procedure is to destroy the virus-affected tissue and stop the wart’s growth. Regular treatment allows for safe and effective removal of the lesion without damaging healthy skin.
