Post-traumatic nail deformity

After a bruise, pinching, wearing tight shoes, or engaging in sports activities, a toenail may begin to deform: its shape, color, and structure can change, with possible thickening, splitting, partial detachment, or abnormal growth. Such deformation can cause not only discomfort and pain but may also lead to fungal infections or ingrown nails if left untreated by a specialist.

How the procedure is performed:

The specialist examines and assesses the extent of nail plate damage and the condition of the nail bed. Depending on the situation, the following procedures may be performed:

  • removal of the thickened or deformed part of the nail;
  • polishing and cleaning of the nail surface;
  • if necessary — strengthening with a special gel or application of therapeutic coatings;
  • in severe cases, orthonyxia (corrective brace) may be used to guide proper nail growth, or partial prosthetics (restoration of the nail shape with artificial material).

Benefits of the procedure:

For many people, it’s important to know how comfortable the procedure will be and how soon they can return to daily life.

  • Painless and safe
  • Improved appearance of the nail
  • Reduced risk of ingrown nails and infections
  • Restoration of proper nail growth
  • Confidence to wear open shoes without discomfort
